Whether you’re here to stay or on a weekend away, Winchester’s local independent shops are a must-see for anyone visiting our beautiful city. Thanks to COVID-19, supporting locally is more important now than it ever was, and for these independent businesses, every little really does help. See below for a guide to Winchester's top independent shops.
1 - Toscanaccio
Based in Winchester’s Independent Shopping area, Parchment street, and modeled on authentic Italian Enoteca (which translates in English to ‘Wine Library’), Toscanaccio has made it their mission to source the highest quality wines and deli produce from Italy and sometimes other countries, while also remaining focussed on sourcing as much from their local area as they can. With a fierce adoration for wine and people’s enjoyment of it, there’s no better way to experience the Italian way of enjoying wine, complemented by a plate of antipasto, in their stunning, relaxed upstairs seating area.

2 - P&G Wells
If you’re after a blast from the past, the P&G Wells bookshop on College Street has been associated with the Wells name for nearly 200 years. Having seen at least 4 generations of the Wells family dating back to 1845, this place truly is steeped in history, much like the rest of our city. In 1983, a new partnership was struck and the shop has continued to trade under the name of P&G Wells. With a unique interior filled with fascinating reads, you could end up browsing for hours without even knowing it. A visit to this stunning shop filled with history is a definite must if you're in the area.
